So, I've been really into the show "When I was 17" lately. On this show, famous people (actors, athletes, singers and such) discuss the cars they drove, the hookups they had, and the music they loved when they were just 17 year olds. At the end of every show the narrator asks "what will you say you did when you were 17?" I thought about this and I imagined myself on the show ten years from now saying "When I was 17, i was living in Madrid, Spain as an exchange student" How many people can say that? All these other people on the show are saying superficial things like "I was prom queen" or "i had a Cadillac". Don't get me wrong those things are nice but they don't really matter once you leave the bubble that is high school. It's nice to know that I'll be having experiences that most teenagers don't ever have. I've talked to other teenagers about next year and they say "wow how can you be away from your family? " or "how can you go to school in a different language? I could never do that". However, when i talk to adults about it they say how wonderful of an opportunity it is etc etc. I'm glad I'm not the kind of person that would let this chance of a lifetime slip by.
Anyways, I still don't know when I'm leaving. Sometime in early September (after my birthday of course) guess I'll have to wait and see....
Random fact about Spain: The tooth fairy is not recognized in Spain. Instead, they have a tooth mouse named Ratoncito Perez
I kinda like that better than the tooth fairy :]
